Got the Books

it took a bit. But I checked with some people I trust as to what would be the best book(s) to get me started learning Python.

Keep in mind, other than some very basic basic I don't know anything about programming. Okay a little scripting experience but we all know that's like saying you should be able to snowboard cuz you once threw a snowball.

I picked up Learning Python aka the Wood Rat Book from O'Reilly along with Beginning Python from Apress. I also got the Programming Python book from O'Reilly aka the Python Book.

So I'll start with the Wood Rat Book. It's smallish. Under 600 pages seperated into 29 chapters in 8 major sections. So the plan will be to tackle at least 2 sections a week in order to get the book ripped in the next month.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh, I'd also like to learn more about database management. I'm leaning toward mysql but I'd love some feedback on other options.

Wish me luck.

One Idea, One Project, One Blog

On May 19th, 2010 at 1:30pm I decided that I wanted to learn Python. I've never learned any programming language before but have decided that in my world, lived so very much online as it is, that learning a programming language is much like taking shop or home economics in school. It just really needs to happen to provide a foundation and basic skill set for life in the 'world'.

So...first steps. Talk to some experts, find some resource material, make a plan of attack.

Stay tuned.
